The General Department of Legal Affairs was established by Decision No. 2131/502, issued by the University President on 22/4/1407 AH. This department reports directly to the University President and serves as the entity responsible for providing legal opinions and consultations to all departments and entities within the university. Its tasks include verifying the proper application of regulations, rules, and instructions, reviewing contracts and agreements, and converting them into appropriate legal formats. Additionally, it is responsible for investigating violations attributed to faculty members, staff, and students, as well as representing the university before relevant authorities, such as the Administrative Court under the Board of Grievances and the Labor Office. The department’s responsibilities also include reviewing contracts and agreements concluded with colleges, deanships, and various centers within the university, as well as preparing and reviewing administrative decisions and other assigned tasks. The General Department of Legal Affairs comprises a team of consultants specializing in legal studies and regulations to ensure the completion of assigned tasks in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. It also includes administrative staff to support the department’s administrative functions.
