The Faculty of Marine Sciences is considered a comprehensive academic center specializing in various marine science disciplines, combining distinguished education and advanced scientific research in this vital field. The Department of Marine Sciences at King Abdulaziz University was established in 1395 AH (1975 CE), beginning with teaching marine biology at the undergraduate level. Due to the expansion and diversity of marine sciences, the Marine Sciences Institute was established in 1398 AH (1978 CE), encompassing several specialized departments including biological, physical, chemical, and geological marine sciences. In 1401 AH (1981 CE), the institute was transformed into the Faculty of Marine Sciences, enhancing its position as a leading academic and research center in the Kingdom. The faculty team consists of a distinguished group of experienced and highly qualified academics who contribute to providing outstanding educational and research programs that meet market needs and scientific research requirements. The faculty awards Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in various marine science disciplines, with an emphasis on developing students’ scientific and practical skills.
