The founding: King Abdulaziz University is named after the founder of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King Abdulaziz, may his soul rest in peace. The university was established in 1387 AH / 1967 AD as a private university, with the goal of spreading higher education in the western region of Saudi Arabia. The university began its first academic year in 1388 AH / 1968 AD.
