The administration was established as a center in 1396 AH (1976 AD) to be responsible for managing and developing all technological and informational systems at the university. It then transformed into a deanship by ministerial decision in 1429 AH (2008 AD). Later, the deanship was restructured to become the General Administration of Information Technology by the decision of the Acting President of the University, No. 678/Q, dated 6/8/1444 AH, based on what was stated in item (first) of the Universities Affairs Council Decision No. (7/6/1443) dated 13/9/1443 AH, which mandated the transformation of all supporting deanships in the university into administrations, except for the three deanships mentioned in the decision. The General Administration aims to provide an advanced technological environment that supports the educational, research, and administrative processes at the university by providing the necessary technological infrastructure, such as networks, servers, and electronic systems. It is also responsible for designing and developing software systems that facilitate academic and administrative processes, in addition to providing technical support to university users, including students, faculty members, and staff. The administration also offers innovative solutions in the field of information technology to support academic innovation and enhance performance across various sectors of the university.
