
Chief Technology and Data Management Officer
Prof. Naif Aljohani is a professor at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at King Abdulaziz University. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southampton, UK, in 2014, a Master’s in Computer Networks from La Trobe University, Australia, in 2009, and a Bachelor’s in Computer Education from King Abdulaziz University in 2005.
He currently holds several academic and administrative leadership positions at the university. In October 2024, he was assigned to oversee Digital Transformation and Information Technology, and in April 2026, he was appointed Chief Transformation and Data Officer (CTDO). In this role, he leads the university’s digital transformation strategy, oversees the development of IT infrastructure, implements data governance strategies, and enhances the efficiency of digital services to support institutional decision-making, innovation, and technological sustainability.
Since December 2025, he has also served as Dean of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, where he is responsible for advancing the digital learning ecosystem, expanding distance education models, and integrating emerging technologies into the educational process to improve learning outcomes, enhance user experience, and align with the university’s digital transformation and flexible learning objectives.
Professor Aljohani has contributed to establishing and leading several major academic and administrative initiatives, including the Data Management Office (2023–2026), the Decision Support Center (2017–2023), serving as Deputy Director of the High-Performance Computing Center for Technical Affairs (2014–2018), and Chair of the Information Systems Department (2014–2017). He also founded the King Abdulaziz University Web Science Observatory in 2014 and currently leads pioneering research in web science, big data analytics, social media analytics, semantic technologies, and data-driven decision-making.
He is recognized as a keynote speaker in the university’s Academic Leadership Diploma Program, where he has delivered workshops on decision-making skills, data-driven strategies, change management, conflict management, and research ethics, benefiting more than 600 academic leaders from King Abdulaziz University and other Saudi universities.
Professor Aljohani actively supervises graduate students and focuses on developing intelligent systems to improve educational, research, and operational processes. His work also emphasizes integrating data-driven approaches into policy development and governance practices, while collaborating with international researchers and institutions to advance digital education and data science applications in academia.
