Prof. Haythum Osama Tayeb is a Saudi academic leader and neurologist specializing in behavioral neurology and neuroscience. He trained at Harvard, McGill, and King Abdulaziz University (KAU), and has contributed to advancing higher education and clinical neuroscience regionally and internationally.
He currently serves as the Secretary-General of the Academic Council at KAU, where he leads strategic reforms to strengthen academic governance and align it with the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030. Previously, he was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the Faculty of Medicine in Rabigh, securing full accreditation and shaping its academic and research agenda.
Nationally, Prof. Tayeb is the founding president of the Saudi Chapter of Behavioral Neurology, guiding the development of Alzheimer’s disease care and neuropsychiatry in Saudi Arabia. Internationally, he founded the Brain Care Program at Westchester Medical Center and New York Medical College, where he also serves as adjunct faculty.
Clinically, he established and directs the award-winning Epilepsy Unit at KAU Hospital, leads the Neuroscience Research Unit, and co-founded the Department of Neurology. His research focuses on the brain–mind interface, and he is passionate about cross-cultural knowledge transfer and science communication.
