Biography

Professor Dr. Abdulfattah Bin Sulaiman Mashat has served as Vice Minister of Hajj and Umrah since 2017 and is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees at King Abdulaziz University (since 2020). He previously served as President of the University of Jeddah (2016–2017) and Vice President for Development at King Abdulaziz University for over three years. He was also Dean of the Faculty of Computing and IT, where he successfully secured ABET accreditation for its programs.

As Dean of Admission and Registration, he led the development of the “ODUS Plus” electronic university services system and played a key role in achieving multiple national and international academic accreditations. He has participated in numerous high-level committees and councils related to development, governance, and service of pilgrims, including the Makkah Region Development Authority and the Guests of the Most Merciful Program.

He is a Board Member of Kidana Development Company, the main developer of the Holy Sites. Prof. Mashat has also participated in many local and international conferences focused on enhancing Hajj and Umrah services and has contributed to the development of e-government systems.

He earned his Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from the University of Leeds (UK), and his B.Sc. from King Abdulaziz University. He was awarded the rank of Professor in 2013 and has notable contributions in research, academic development, and institutional leadership.
