Biography

An accomplished professor in Computer Science, currently serving as the Acting Vice President for Educational Affairs and previously appointed as the Acting President of King Abdulaziz University from July 2022 to February 2024 (two years). She also held the position of Dean of the Female Student Section in 2009 for five consecutive terms. Additionally, she was the first Dean of the Faculty of Home Economics for three terms and served as the Dean of the Female Students’ Section at the newly established University of Jeddah.

Her previous roles include being the Supervisor of the Computer Science Department and the first Vice Dean of the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Education, where she launched the first e-learning program for women in higher education in Saudi Arabia. She was also the first Vice Dean for the Female Student Section at the university.

She earned her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, USA, and her master’s and doctorate degrees in Computer Science from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., USA. Her research contributions include publishing and reviewing papers in various fields such as Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), machine learning, user-centered design, usability, media, e-learning, e-government, and knowledge cities.

In addition to teaching and supervising master's and PhD theses, she has extensive experience in training faculty members and participating in various academic, administrative, and web-based projects, as well as university-level accreditation programs. She has been invited to speak at numerous local and international conferences and exhibitions, representing the university and Saudi women leaders in forums such as Times Higher Education, QS, STEM, and Knowledge Cities.
