Dr. Tareef bin Yusuf Alama is an exemplary leader in both the academic and medical fields in Saudi Arabia. Currently serving as the President of King Abdulaziz University, he is dedicated to steering the university toward global horizons by fostering a culture of innovation and competitiveness. Dr. Tareef’s illustrious career is marked by groundbreaking achievements; as the Deputy Minister for Therapeutic Services at the Ministry of Health since 2014, he oversaw a vast network of over 270 hospitals nationwide, along with extended care, rehabilitation, and mental health services.
He previously held the position of Director of Health Affairs in the Makkah Region and chaired the Mental Health Oversight Council, where his leadership led to transformative strategies that elevated the quality of healthcare services. On the academic front, he is an associate professor who has significantly contributed to promoting excellence and innovation in academia.
Dr. Tareef holds board certifications in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics from the United States and Canada, showcasing a world-class level of expertise. His achievements were crowned with the King Abdulaziz Medal of the Second Class, a testament to his exceptional leadership and commitment to forward-thinking governance.
