Department of Surgery

The Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, is one of the first academic departments established since the faculty’s inception in 1395H/1975. It is a vital department aimed at providing distinguished education and training in the field of surgery, keeping pace with the latest medical advancements and international standards. The department was founded as a cornerstone for developing surgical skills and enhancing the quality of medical and surgical education through advanced training programs and a supportive educational environment. The department continuously provides services through specialized outpatient clinics and general clinics, where surgical cases are also referred. The department focuses on preparing competent medical professionals capable of providing comprehensive and exceptional healthcare through both theoretical and practical education. In addition to general surgery, the department includes specialized fields such as plastic surgery, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, pediatric surgery, and neurosurgery. It is committed to developing curricula and adopting the latest teaching methods, such as medical simulation and interactive learning, to enhance students' practical experiences and ensure their readiness to face challenges in the work environment. In addition to education, the Department of Surgery contributes to advancing scientific research in surgical fields, supporting innovative studies aimed at improving the quality of healthcare and elevating surgical services. It also focuses on strengthening academic collaboration with local and international institutions to exchange expertise and knowledge.
