Department of Community Medicine

The Department of Community Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, is one of the core departments in medical education, playing a key role in providing public healthcare to the community. The department aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the social and environmental factors that affect the health of individuals and communities, enabling them to design and implement public health programs that target disease prevention and health improvement. The department focuses on teaching students how to assess public health needs, apply research methods in public health, and analyze health data to identify healthcare priorities. It also emphasizes developing students' skills in addressing community health issues, including infectious diseases, environmental health, and maternal and child healthcare. The Department of Community Medicine endeavors to enhance collaboration between various local and international health institutions to promote public health and develop health education programs within the community. The department also aims to advance scientific research in public health, encouraging both students and faculty members to participate in studies aimed at improving public health policies and reducing health burdens. Through continuous education and training practices, the Department of Community Medicine seeks to prepare doctors who can contribute to improving community health, enhancing disease prevention, and supporting national efforts to achieve Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 in improving public healthcare.
