The Department of Internal Medicine was established in 1977 (1397 AH) and is one of the essential and vital departments in the field of medical education. The department plays a central role in training students to diagnose and treat internal diseases affecting various body systems. It includes other specialized fields aimed at serving patients and achieving educational and training goals, such as dermatology and venereal diseases, infertility, neurology, psychiatry, oncology, respiratory diseases, cardiology, gastroenterology and hepatology, nephrology, rheumatology, immunology, infectious diseases, and endocrinology. The department aims to provide students with in-depth medical knowledge and clinical skills necessary to manage complex medical cases by teaching them how to diagnose diseases, develop appropriate treatment plans, and follow up with patients in university clinics. The department also works to enhance students' skills in patient care through continuous hands-on training in university hospitals, where students handle diverse cases that require advanced diagnostic and therapeutic skills. The Department of Internal Medicine promotes scientific research in the field of internal medicine and supports studies and research aimed at improving diagnostic and therapeutic methods for internal diseases. Additionally, the department fosters academic cooperation with local and international institutions to exchange medical expertise and knowledge.
