Department of Physiology

The Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine is one of the fundamental departments in medical education, playing a vital role in imparting the concepts of physiology to students. It is a key pillar in understanding the functions of the human body. The department was established at the inception of the faculty in 1395 AH / 1975, to be a scientific center focused on studying the physiological functions of various organs and systems in the body, and how these systems interact to maintain internal balance and respond to external stimuli. The department aims to provide students with a deep and comprehensive understanding of how the different organs and systems of the human body perform their functions, such as the respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous, digestive, musculoskeletal systems, and hormones. It also explores how the body responds to various internal and external influences and how organ functions are regulated through the nervous and endocrine systems. The department focuses on providing a well-rounded education that combines both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students learn about the vital functions of the body through lectures and various laboratory experiments. The department places a strong emphasis on utilizing the latest technologies and scientific methods in teaching physiology, including digital simulations and 3D modeling, to enhance students' understanding of physiological processes. The department also offers academic programs where students learn to apply physiological concepts in medical diagnosis and treatment. In addition, students engage in research projects that aim to explore the physiological changes associated with various diseases. The Department of Physiology endeavors to prepare a generation of doctors and researchers who can understand how the human body's functions are regulated and how to address health challenges arising from physiological disorders. This contributes to enhancing diagnostic and medical treatment skills, thereby improving the overall quality of healthcare.
