Faculty of Medicine

Overview

The Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University is one of the leading medical schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Established in 1395 AH (1975 AD), the Faculty was founded with the mission of providing distinguished medical education and preparing highly qualified physicians capable of delivering healthcare in accordance with the highest scientific and professional standards. The Faculty aims to equip its students with both fundamental and advanced medical knowledge, while training them in diagnostic, therapeutic, and research skills across a wide range of specialties, including internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, family medicine, anesthesia, psychiatry, and others. Research represents a core pillar of the Faculty’s mission, as it strives to advance medical research and foster collaboration with local and international research institutions. The Faculty also offers comprehensive academic programs that combine theoretical learning with practical training. Students receive extensive clinical experience at the University’s hospitals and affiliated medical centers, which enhances their clinical competence and practical skills. In addition, the Faculty provides specialized programs in various branches of medicine, as well as postgraduate programs designed to prepare physicians for advanced medical education and training. The undergraduate curriculum is structured into two main phases: Basic Medical Sciences and Clinical Sciences. Through these academic and research endeavors, the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University seeks to develop a new generation of physicians and researchers who are capable of creating innovative medical solutions, contributing to the advancement of healthcare in the Kingdom, and promoting medical innovation on both regional and global levels.
