Department of Radiology

The Department of Radiology was initially established as part of the Department of Internal Medicine when the Faculty of Medicine was founded in 1975 (1395 AH). It consisted of two rooms equipped with X-ray machines. The department later expanded by adding new equipment, including ultrasound, CT scanning, nuclear medicine, interventional radiology, and mammography. The department became independent in 1993 and made significant advancements by introducing modern diagnostic and therapeutic imaging technologies, such as radiation therapy, MRI, and the use of computer processing for results. The Department of Radiology at the Faculty of Medicine is one of the leading departments in medical education. It offers advanced programs designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to utilize modern imaging techniques for diagnosing and treating diseases. The department provides practical training in university hospitals, where students handle medical cases that require specialized imaging examinations. The department is dedicated to developing students' clinical and practical skills by using the latest equipment and technologies in medical imaging.
