Department of Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry is considered one of the leading academic departments in the Faculty of Science. It was established in 1404/1405 AH (1983/1984) to serve as a distinguished center for education and development in biochemistry. The department aims to prepare qualified scientific professionals by offering academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on fundamental and advanced aspects of biochemistry and their applications in medicine, public health, the pharmaceutical industry, and biotechnology. The department is committed to training students in modern analytical and molecular biology techniques and to developing their ability to understand the molecular basis of biological processes and diseases. The department has received full academic accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) for the period from October 2022 to September 2027, reflecting the quality of its programs and its educational and research excellence. The department also promotes research collaboration locally and internationally and contributes to supporting scientific research, community service, and sustainable development.
