Biography

Prof. Abdulrahman Sameer Basahal is a Professor of Human Resource Management at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Human Resource Management. His academic and professional work focuses on advancing Human Resource Management as a strategic, evidence-based discipline that connects people, systems, and organizational performance. Prof. Basahal holds a PhD from the University of Leeds (UK), a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development and Consulting from Lancaster University (UK), and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management and Psychology from London South Bank University. His research adopts both qualitative and quantitative approaches and examines key areas such as leadership behavior, employee experience, psychological empowerment, organizational culture, performance management systems, career adaptability, labor relations, and organizational change. His scholarly contributions have been published in leading international journals, including The International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Innovation & Knowledge, Acta Psychologica, Frontiers in Psychology, and Employee Responsibilities and Rights Journal. Alongside his research contributions, Prof. Basahal plays an active role in academic leadership and institutional development. As Chairman of the HRM Department, he has led strategic planning initiatives, contributed to the redesign and development of academic programs, strengthened quality assurance processes in line with NCAAA and AACSB standards, and supported student employability through cooperative training and industry engagement. He has also contributed to the alignment of the Executive Master in Human Resource Management program with international professional standards, including those of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). His leadership reflects a strong commitment to academic excellence, social responsibility, and the continuous development of human capital in alignment with national priorities. Alongside his academic responsibilities, Prof. Basahal serves as a Strategic Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior Consultant, supporting public and private sector organizations in leadership development, HR strategy, organizational behavior, employee experience, performance management, and organizational change and transformation, with a particular focus on the human and HR dimensions. His work integrates academic insight with practical application, advancing the university’s mission in knowledge creation, capacity building, and societal impact.
