Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science was established in 1403 AH (1983 CE) in response to the needs of national development and higher education in the Kingdom. It was created to complement the array of academic departments within the Faculty of Economics and Administration at the university, following the recruitment of academically qualified faculty members who had studied and trained at prestigious international universities. The first cohort of graduates was in 1405 AH (1985 CE), and since then, graduates have consistently proven their high competency. They have achieved success in various government institutions, media organizations, and private sector entities, with many attaining distinguished and leadership positions in their respective fields. Faculty members have also made significant contributions through research and consultations at the university level, as well as for government bodies, the media, and the private sector. This prestigious major was made available to female students starting in 1445 AH (2023 CE), following the recruitment of highly qualified national staff, to support the participation of Saudi women in this vital sector and to supply the labor market with academically capable professionals in this rare academic discipline at the national level.
