Biography
Professor of Health Economics and Financing at King Abdulaziz University. He holds a PhD in Health Economics and Financing from Aston Business School in the United Kingdom and has a distinguished research record, reflected in his inclusion among the world’s top 2% of scientists for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. He completed the Program for Leadership Development (PLD) at Harvard Business School, which strengthened his expertise in strategic leadership, innovation, and executive decision-making. His academic and professional track record spans leadership and advisory roles in governance, financial sustainability, and privatization. He served as Executive Advisor to His Excellency the President of the General Court of Audit for Privatization Oversight, where he contributed to developing governance frameworks, institutional evaluation methodologies, and capacity-building programs at the national level. He currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, Founder and Head of the Health Economics Research Group, and Editor-in-Chief of the Saudi Journal of Health Systems Research, in addition to his membership in several professional and academic committees within and outside the University. He previously served as Vice Dean for Educational Affairs at the Faculty of Economics and Administration and as Chair of the Department of Health Services and Hospital Administration. He holds several specialized professional certifications, including Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Governance, Risk and Compliance Professional (GRCP), Certified Financial Consultant (CFC), and Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP). He has contributed to leading initiatives in academic program development, strengthening research and institutional partnerships, attracting research grants, supervising numerous postgraduate theses, and publishing more than sixty-five papers in internationally indexed, peer-reviewed journals. His scholarly and leadership contributions focus on enhancing the efficiency of health systems, supporting evidence-based health policymaking, and promoting governance and institutional sustainability in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and the University’s role in serving society and the national economy.
