Biography

Academic and researcher in the field of Information Systems Strategy. He currently serves as Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the Faculty of Economics and Administration, King Abdulaziz University, in addition to his role as a faculty member in the Department of Management Information Systems. He brings over fifteen years of academic, administrative, and professional experience spanning higher education, scientific research, strategic consulting, and institutional development across both the public and private sectors. He earned his PhD in Information Systems Strategy from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, an MSc in E-Business Strategy and Systems from the University of Liverpool, UK, and a BSc in Business Administration from King Abdulaziz University. This strong international academic foundation has informed his strategic contributions to higher education development and organizational transformation. Dr. Sarhan has held several academic leadership positions, most notably serving as Chair of the Department of Management Information Systems (2019–2023), during which he led curriculum development initiatives, launched executive postgraduate programs, enhanced academic quality, and supported accreditation processes. He has also played a key role in various college and university committees, including strategic planning, curriculum development, scholarships, graduate studies, and examinations, in addition to his membership in permanent committees within the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. Professionally, he has extensive experience in digital transformation, business development, and strategic consulting. He previously served as Assistant to the CEO for Business Development in the private sector and worked as a Digital Transformation Consultant. He also contributed to the Business Insolvency and Financial Distress Project in the Makkah Region, under the direction of the Emirate of Makkah. His research interests focus on information systems strategy, digital transformation, artificial intelligence applications in business and education, and health informatics. He has published peer-reviewed research in internationally indexed journals, including Web of Science and Scopus, and actively contributes to research evaluation, graduation project supervision, and innovation-driven academic initiatives.
