The Department of Chemical Engineering at King Abdulaziz University in Rabigh was established in 2010 in response to Saudi Arabia's growing needs in the chemical industries and the conversion of raw materials into value-added products. The department focuses on studying the chemical and physical processes that raw materials undergo, as well as developing cost-effective techniques for designing, building, and operating the factories and equipment involved in these processes. The department also addresses the study of the quality and properties of the produced materials. The Kingdom is rich in petroleum and mineral resources, highlighting the need for skilled materials and chemical engineers to harness these resources and contribute to sustainable economic development. Rabigh is strategically located, hosting over 125 industrial companies working in fields such as petroleum refining, petrochemicals, and cement production, further enhancing the region's significance as an industrial hub. The department aims to equip engineers capable of meeting the local and global market demands in this evolving field.
