Department of Architecture

The Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering, King Abdulaziz University, Rabigh branch, was established in the academic year 1439/1440 AH (2018-2019 ). It is distinguished by graduating engineers who specialize in designing sustainable and energy-efficient buildings, responding to the growing demand in the labor market for these precise specialties. The field of architecture is closely related to the science and technology of designing buildings of all types, providing students with the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge in building design, integration of basic building systems, and the design and calculation of building systems. The department also focuses on using computer software to design, implement, and evaluate buildings before, during, and after the construction process. Graduates of the architecture program have a solid scientific background in structural systems, HVAC systems, plumbing and sewage systems, fire protection systems, electrical systems, lighting and acoustics systems, energy use and conservation systems, as well as building sciences and their functional performance, construction management, and resource scheduling. The department aims to equip highly qualified architectural engineers capable of meeting local and global market demands in modern and sustainable building design. It also strives to prepare specialists capable of developing innovative solutions that contribute to improving the built environment, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainability in building design and operation.
