The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering in Rabigh was established based on the gracious approval of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz in 1429 AH. This department is one of the leading departments that combines the fields of civil and environmental engineering. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design, construct, and maintain civil structures such as residential buildings, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure like roads, bridges, and airports, as well as manage water and sewage networks. Civil engineering plays a key role in the advancement of human civilization by building and developing systems that support daily life, while environmental engineering focuses on assessing and protecting the environment through water resource management, pollution treatment, and improving the surrounding environment. The department offers several specializations, including transportation engineering, construction engineering, construction project management, water resources engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, geomatics engineering, and coastal engineering. The department strives to graduate civil and environmental engineers capable of addressing engineering and environmental challenges, contributing to sustainable development, and achieving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's vision of improving infrastructure and preserving the environment.
