The Astrophysics Bachelor’s Program, established in 1976, is designed to produce highly qualified graduates with strong scientific preparation for careers in education, theoretical and observational astronomy research, and professional practice in space science and its applications. The program focuses on the fundamental and applied principles of physics and astronomy to deepen understanding of natural and cosmic phenomena through scientific and quantitative methods. Students gain a strong theoretical and practical foundation while developing analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. The main objective of the program is to graduate scientifically competent students who are prepared to pursue advanced studies or work in physics, astronomy, space science, education, and research related fields. The program targets students with strong interests in the basic sciences, solid quantitative and mathematical abilities, and a clear motivation to study and explore physical and astronomical phenomena using scientific methods.

Botany program is one of the first established programs in the Faculty of Sciences. The program grants BS, MS and PhD degrees. Bachelor of Biochemistry

BIOCHEMISTRY

The bachelor's program in biochemistry is one of the pioneering and distinguished programs in the Faculty of Science at King Abdulaziz University, as those affiliated with this program will experience a scientific and practical experience with high standards that will make them distinguished scientists and productive citizens. The program covers a wide range of basic skills in biochemistry, chemistry, and biology. It also allows students to pursue their aspirations and practical and knowledge-based goals by providing various optional study materials. The program is periodically reviewed to update and develop it to meet labour market needs, ensure community service, and achieve the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The student must successfully pass all preparatory year courses to be accepted in the Biochemistry BSc program.

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics

Mathematics is the basis for successful decision making and problem solving independent of industry. Mathematical models help us analyze information and forecast results in different sector such as economics, finance, engineering, and medicine. This analysis helps governemnt and businesses understand the factors behind important decisions. The Department of Mathematics in King Abdulaziz University (KAU) offers undergraduate program leading to the degrees of Bachelor. This program is designed to expand and consolidate existing mathematics knowledge and to develop skills in mathematics. The diversity of undergraduate courses offered in the department of mathematics gives the student an opportunity to specialize in one of the several fields of pure and applied mathematics. Graduates of KAU's Bachelor of Mathematics will gain highly transferable skills in problem solving, data analysis, logistics and logic, probability and variability and mathematical modelling.

Master in Biochemistry

BIOCHEMISTRY

The department started the postgraduate program (Master of Curriculum and Thesis) more than twenty years ago (1404/1405 AH). The department developed the master's program with courses and a thesis to align with the huge scientific developments in this field, and began work on it from the first semester of the academic year 1426/1427 AH. Research from those theses has been published in specialised scientific journals around the world. Most of these graduates were able to pursue their higher studies and obtain their doctorate degrees from abroad or through the joint supervision system.
