صورة تعريفية

Pathology is a branch of medicine concerned with studying the structural and functional changes in cells, tissues, and organs caused by diseases. It aims to understand the causes of diseases, their mechanisms of development, and their effects on the body, contributing to diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. The Department of Pathology, also known as Anatomical Pathology, was established shortly after the founding of the Faculty of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University in 1395 AH (1975 AD). The department is responsible for teaching pathology to students of the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Rehabilitation Sciences, and Applied Medical Sciences, in addition to contributing to postgraduate programs such as the Master's in Nursing. Faculty members also play a vital role in the Pathology Laboratory at King Abdulaziz University Hospital, where they diagnose diseases by examining patient samples and assist the medical team in developing appropriate treatment plans.
