The Department of Engineering Geology was established in 1394 AH (1974 CE) as one of the departments of the College of Earth Sciences. In 1420 AH (2009 CE), the addition of Environmental Geology to the department was approved, and it became known as the Department of Engineering and Environmental Geology.
