Department of Sociology and Social Work

About the Department The Department of Sociology at King Abdulaziz University was established in 1393 AH (1973) in response to the Kingdom's need for qualified scientific talent to contribute to the social development process. In 1431 AH, the department's name was changed to the "Department of Sociology and Social Work" to include two tracks: Sociology and Social Work. The department offers academic programs in sociology and social work at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. It is one of the distinguished academic departments that focuses on studying society and its effects on individuals and groups. The department specializes in analyzing social phenomena and studying social relationships between individuals in society, with a focus on social issues and how to address them through social work applications. The department aims to prepare qualified graduates to work in various fields such as government institutions, non-governmental organizations, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and social institutions. This contributes to the development of society by providing social services and rehabilitation programs that improve the quality of life for individuals and groups.
