About the Program

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Program at the Faculty of Medicine, King Abdulaziz University, is a comprehensive undergraduate medical program designed to prepare competent physicians in accordance with national and international standards of medical education. The program offers an integrated curriculum that combines basic medical sciences with clinical training while emphasizing problem-based learning, clinical skills development, simulation-based education, scientific research, and community engagement. Learning Outcomes

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the scientific basis of health and disease; and the relevance of basic science to the clinical setting.
Recognize the ethical and professional background of medical practice.
Demonstrate understanding of the basics of patient advocacy and doctor safety within the medico-legal frame of the healthcare system.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the various roles of the doctor, family, community and culture in to health promotion, maintenance and disease prevention.
Integrate knowledge in identifying and solving healthcare problems.
Critically analyze and relate results of patient history, clinical signs and symptoms and investigations.
Prioritize causes underlying the problem to narrow a differential diagnosis.
Outline a management plan in healthcare settings.
Do quantitative or qualitative methods that underlie research.
Demonstrate information literacy skills and the ability to access, record, organize and communicate information appropriately and professionally verbally and in writing.
Statistically analyze data using statistical packages.
Demonstrate the ability to systematically elicit and interpret clinical symptoms and signs.
Perform clinical procedures, especially those required in life saving situations and set by the NCAAA.
Demonstrate personal skills in self- management; self-appraisal and life-long learning.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and professionally in or lead a team.
Elicit accurate comprehensive and focused history by employing techniques that facilitate patient’s sharing of information.
