The second category includes articles from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry guidelines that the students will self-read before the weekly seminars. Thus described, interceptive orthodontics provide tremendous value, as it can reduce or prevent the extraction of adult teeth, eliminates or shorten treatment times with comprehensive orthodontics, improve facial balance and growth, prevent trauma or social issues related to protrusive teeth, and assist in prevention of ectopic or impacted teeth. This course aims to prepare the Master student with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize, diagnose, and manage interceptive orthodontic problems.
