The Department of Statistics in the Faculty of Science was established in 1399/1400 AH in response to the rapid growth in the importance of statistics and the expanding range of its applications across scientific and professional fields. This growth created an urgent need for specialized professionals capable of analyzing data and interpreting complex phenomena with efficiency and competence. Statistics is regarded as a fundamental science that plays a pivotal role in supporting scientific research and decision-making, given its close connection to various aspects of daily life. Since its establishment, the department has contributed effectively, alongside other departments, to supporting the academic and research mission of the faculty and the university. It has received continuous support and care from the faculty and university administration, both in the development of its academic programs and in strengthening its resources through qualified human expertise and advanced laboratory facilities. The department, across both male and female sections, includes a distinguished group of faculty members with extensive academic experience and notable research achievements. It offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in Statistics and actively contributes to organizing training courses and educational programs, aiming to enhance statistical literacy and disseminate knowledge among researchers and professionals in various disciplines.
