Department of Physiology

The Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, King Abdulaziz University in Rabigh, was established alongside the founding of the faculty in 1439 AH. The department focuses on teaching physiology, one of the core subjects in medical sciences, which explores the functions of the body's various organs as a foundation for understanding changes in these functions under pathological conditions. The department aims to provide students with scientific knowledge about physiological processes such as respiration, circulation, digestion, the nervous system, and endocrine glands, as well as the changes occurring under normal and pathological conditions. It also seeks to enhance students' skills in analyzing physiological data and understanding the interactions between different body systems, with applications in fields such as medicine, medical research, and biotechnology. Furthermore, the department promotes critical thinking and scientific research by offering an interactive educational environment that includes laboratory experiments and field studies.
