Department of Environmental

The department of Environmental Sciences has been founded in the academic year 1400H 1980G as one of four main departments of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences Studies. The department is considered an outstanding scientific and unique achievement for King Abdulaziz University. No similar departments are available, not only in the Kingdom universities, but also in the Arab universities. The department is interested in all hazards of environmental pollution, both on the national and international levels, searching into how to face these hazards by modern scientific and technical means; with the aim of preserving natural resources and graduating citizens specialized in these pollution fields and capable of tackling such hazards. and interested in studies related to air pollution, water pollution, food contamination, environmental toxicology, occupational hygiene and safety, wastes management, environmental health, noise and radiology pollution. On the ninth of Sha'ban 1444 AH - corresponding to March 1, 2023 AD, a decision was issued by His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council for Universities Affairs to amend the name of the department to become "Department of Water Resources".
