The Academic Writing Center at the English Language Institute, King Abdulaziz University, was established on 3-1-1440H based on the decision of the University President, No. 3299/C. The center was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Dr. Hamad Al-Sheikh, the Minister of Education, at a ceremony held on Thursday, 18-9-1440H, corresponding to 23 May 2019, following the conclusion of the sixth session of the King Abdulaziz University Council for the academic year 2018/2019. The Academic Writing Center aims to develop students' academic writing skills, enabling them to write clearly and precisely by understanding rhetorical and linguistic strategies, as well as recognizing writing styles appropriate for academic readers. The center offers innovative workshops and training courses, along with a variety of services and extracurricular activities designed to support independent, self-directed learning in academic writing and enhance critical thinking, analysis, inference, induction, deduction, and reasoning skills. The center also seeks to promote and foster a culture of excellent academic writing ethics. Through continuous efforts to improve academic writing skills, the center contributes to enhancing students' academic performance and strengthens the culture of academic writing at the university, helping students make effective contributions in their academic and professional fields.
