The Department of Economics was established in the academic year 1389/1390 AH (1969/1970 AD) as the foundational nucleus of the Faculty of Economics and Administration. The department offers a Bachelor’s degree in Economics through a comprehensive academic program integrated with other departments in the faculty, contributing to building students’ economic knowledge and enhancing their analytical abilities. The department also offers a Master’s degree in Economics with two options: coursework and thesis, or coursework and a research project. In addition, a PhD program in Economics is available, aimed at preparing academically and scientifically qualified professionals in various economic fields. The Department of Economics actively contributes to supporting scientific research by collaborating with several research centers within the university. It also organizes and hosts seminars and academic discussions on a variety of economic topics during each semester. These sessions involve the participation of faculty members and invited experts and professionals from within and outside the university, fostering scholarly dialogue and community engagement.
