Hydrogeology (BSc)
HYDROGEOLOGY
The Bachelor of Hydrogeology Program is designed to prepare qualified graduates with strong scientific and applied knowledge in groundwater and surface-water systems. The program provides students with a solid foundation in earth sciences, geology, hydrology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, GIS, remote sensing, and environmental sciences, followed by specialized courses in applied hydrology, groundwater geology, groundwater hydraulics, hydrochemistry, groundwater modeling, groundwater contamination, water-well technology, and environmental hydrogeology. The program integrates theoretical learning with laboratory work, field training, technical applications, and cooperative training to develop students’ practical, analytical, and professional skills. It enables students to understand groundwater occurrence, movement, quality, exploration, assessment, protection, and sustainable management. The program also emphasizes modern tools such as geospatial techniques, numerical modeling, field measurements, water sampling, pumping tests, and hydrogeological mapping. Graduates of the program are prepared to contribute to national water-resource development, groundwater exploration, environmental assessment, water-quality monitoring, well-field management, contamination studies, and sustainable water planning. They are also qualified to work in government agencies, water and environmental authorities, geological surveys, consulting firms, research centers, and water-related development projects, in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s priorities for water security, environmental sustainability, and Vision 2030.
