The Department of Cybersecurity was established in 1447 AH in response to rapid technological advancements and the urgent national need to protect the digital landscape. It serves as a fundamental pillar in supporting the Kingdom’s digital sovereignty in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030. The establishment of the department represents the latest qualitative addition to the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT), aiming to prepare specialized national talents equipped with the scientific and practical skills necessary to counter complex cyber threats and secure information infrastructure. The department aims to provide high-quality education in the fields of cyber defense and digital forensics, graduating highly competent professionals capable of designing and developing secure systems. Furthermore, the department seeks to enhance scientific research and innovation in cryptography and network security, contribute innovative technical solutions to contemporary security challenges, and serve the community by raising digital awareness and building a trusted electronic environment. The department is committed to preparing experts capable of innovating and working in vital areas, including incident response, big data protection, security auditing, and the development of fortified systems.
