About the Unit

The Educational Affairs Unit is affiliated with the Vice Deanship of Educational Affairs at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology. It is dedicated to organizing and overseeing the academic aspects of the educational process within the college, in coordination with the academic departments and the Deanship of Admission and Registration.

The unit aims to support the efficient flow of the educational process, provide academic services to students and faculty members, and ensure the implementation of the university's approved academic rules and regulations. This ultimately contributes to improving the student's academic experience and enhancing the quality of education in the college.

The unit provides academic support to new college students during their pre-specialization phase, which includes:

  • Fully overseeing the affairs of new (undeclared) students.
  • Supervising course registration for new students.
  • Providing academic advising during the first-year phase.
  • Introducing students to study plans and the requirements of the college's various specializations.
Student Allocation to Specializations

The unit supervises the process of allocating new students to the various specializations within the college, which includes:

  • Applying the college's approved allocation criteria.
  • Coordinating with the academic departments.
Change of Specialization

The unit reviews requests to change specializations within the college in coordination with the academic departments, strictly following approved academic guidelines.

Academic Registration Management

The Educational Affairs Unit oversees operations related to course registration, which includes:

  • Supporting departments in tracking course registration for specialized students, in coordination with the academic departments.
  • Assisting students with any academic registration challenges they may face.
Study Schedules Support

The unit is responsible for coordinating with academic departments to organize and follow up on study schedules, ensuring the optimal use of the college's educational facilities. This includes:

  • Coordinating with academic departments to organize and track study schedules for courses and sections.
  • Coordinating with academic departments to organize and track the creation of course sections.
  • Organizing the assignment of lectures and labs to classrooms and laboratories, in coordination with the academic departments.
Exams Management

The unit is responsible for organizing operations related to academic exams in the college, which includes:

  • Preparing midterm and final exam schedules in coordination with the academic departments.
  • Resolving exam schedule conflicts according to the university's approved rules and regulations.
  • Organizing halls and laboratories for exams and academic activities.
Academic Coordination

The unit works to enhance coordination between the college and the university's academic entities by:

  • Monitoring adherence to the university's academic calendar.
  • Coordinating with the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding academic affairs.
  • Preparing academic reports related to students and courses.

Supporting Students with Special Needs

The unit provides necessary support for students with special needs in coordination with the relevant university departments, which includes:

  • Monitoring students' needs within the educational environment.
  • Coordinating to provide appropriate academic accommodations in classrooms and during exams.
  • Supporting the integration of students into academic and student activities within the college.
Psychological Support and Counseling

The unit provides initial psychological support and counseling for students facing pressure or challenges during their university journey, which includes:

  • Receiving cases that require psychological support or counseling.
  • Providing initial guidance and counseling to students.
  • Referring cases that require specialized support to the appropriate authorities within the university.
Enhancing Student Participation in Scientific Competitions and Events

The Student Support Unit works to support and encourage college students to participate in scientific events and activities both inside and outside the university. This contributes to developing their scientific and research skills and enhances the college's representation in academic forums. The unit's efforts in this area include:

  • Encouraging students to attend scientific conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Coordinating with relevant entities in the college to facilitate student participation in external scientific events.
