The Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at King Abdulaziz University is one of the Kingdom’s leading hubs for Computing and Informatics education, research, and innovation. Built to keep pace with rapid digital transformation and evolving workforce needs, the faculty prepares highly skilled graduates with strong scientific foundations, hands-on capabilities, and a clear commitment to quality and impact. The faculty’s roots go back to its early beginnings as a computing track within the Mathematics Department in the College of Science. In 1405–1406H, that track was established as an independent department within the College of Science under the name Computer Science Department. For more than two decades, the department played a key role in educating specialists in computing, programming, and real-world applications, helping graduate generations of professionals who advanced digital literacy and supported national development. A major milestone came in 1426H, when a Royal Decree formally established the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology as an independent academic entity—reflecting the strategic importance of computing and IT to the University and the Kingdom. Since then, the faculty has continued to expand and evolve its academic offerings, learning environment, and organizational capacity to meet emerging needs in areas such as data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. In line with international standards and continuous improvement, the faculty’s undergraduate programs have earned ABET accreditation since 1434H, reinforcing the quality of its curricula and the readiness of its graduates for global opportunities. Today, the faculty delivers its programs through four academic departments: Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, and Cybersecurity. Through modern curricula, a supportive and ambitious learning environment, active research groups and specialized labs, and strong local and international partnerships, the faculty empowers students to excel, innovate, and compete—while contributing to high-impact research and community initiatives aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
