Department of Landscape Architecture

The Department of Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and Planning specializes in studying the relationship between the built environment and the natural surroundings. Its goal is to provide innovative architectural solutions that enhance the positive interaction between buildings and their environment. The department was established in 1976 /1396 AH. It introduced the first university program in Landscape Architecture in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. The program was developed in collaboration with faculty members from Harvard University to align with modern trends in sustainable architecture that integrate Landscape, social, and economic aspects into architectural design. The department offers specialized academic programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, fostering critical and creative thinking among students through practical projects aimed at improving the built environment and enhancing the well-being of individuals and communities. The Department of Landscape Architecture aims to graduate architects capable of designing environments that contribute to preserving natural resources and achieving sustainable development through the use of the latest architectural technologies and practices.
