Vision

To be a recognized leader in education, scientific research, and community service in the field of Architecture and Design, both locally and globally.

Mission

Develop the knowledge, skills, and research in architectural and urban design problems, according to an academic system and highly efficient management, to ensure that the labor market and research society are supplied with creative and influential staff locally and globally, towards a smart and sustainable development, by international criteria, to achieve the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's vision and international visions.

Goals

  • 1. Develop the architecture profession to meet the needs of the labor market and keep pace with the developments in related fields.
  • 2. Give students the opportunity to follow up on the latest technologies and contemporary theories to develop the local/global built environments.
  • 3. Conducting practical studies, theoretical, and applied research to students to continue their studies at specialized higher levels.
  • 4. Prepare a new generation of architects in design thinking to lead in the fields of professional architecture and/or architectural research.
  • 5. Develop students’ comprehension of urban aspects to equip them to contribute to raising the quality of the surrounding architectural and urban environment.
  • 6. Expand students' awareness of architectural ideas through atypical thinking.

Admission requirements

The Department of Architecture was established in 1396 AH as part of the Environmental Design School at that time. The importance of the department is represented in the increasing need for local designers to keep pace with the urban development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which reflects the physical, cultural and spiritual nature of the society. The ceremonies within the department are characterized by the diversity of intellectual trends that keep pace with the latest global trends. The scientific content of the department's courses has evolved in line with the changes in the labor market. It also began in the year 1432 AH to activate the master's program in the department within the framework of encouraging graduate programs and taking advantage of the available human and material resources and to serve the community through applied research.
