Department of Periodontics
The Department of Periodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry is one of the vital departments dedicated to providing specialized therapeutic services in periodontics, periodontal surgery, and dental implants. The department was established as a core foundation in the field of dentistry, offering advanced therapeutic services that include diagnosing and treating gum infections, chronic periodontal diseases, cosmetic and reconstructive periodontal surgeries, and preventive oral health care. The department aims to train students on how to clinically examine the tissues surrounding the teeth using diagnostic imaging, recognize pathological changes affecting these tissues, and diagnose various diseases. It also focuses on training students to develop well-coordinated treatment plans tailored to each condition, emphasizing the importance and objectives of the treatment plan, whether surgical or non-surgical, and ensuring follow-up care after treatment. Additionally, students are trained on the different methods to maintain oral health and hygiene as part of a preventive system. The department offers specialized academic programs that include the study of periodontal diseases diagnosis and treatment, including dental implants, cosmetic periodontal surgeries, and the restoration of damaged tissues.
