20260412890The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Aeronautical) is offered by the Department of Aerospace Engineering at King Abdulaziz University. The program provides a comprehensive education that integrates the fundamentals of mechanical engineering with specialized knowledge in the analysis, design, development, testing, and operation of aircraft and atmospheric flight systems. Students first develop a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, computing, engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials, mechanical design, and engineering analysis. They then progress to specialized study in incompressible and compressible aerodynamics, aerospace structures, flight-vehicle materials, flight dynamics, aircraft stability and control, aerospace propulsion, experimental aerodynamics, structural testing, and aircraft structural design. The curriculum also offers elective study in viscous and hypersonic flow, computational fluid dynamics, avionics, data acquisition and signal processing, aerospace-vehicle performance, aircraft design, space-vehicle propulsion, and air-transport engineering. Students apply their knowledge through laboratory experiments, computational modelling, multidisciplinary design projects, a senior project, and 400 hours of supervised industrial training completed over ten weeks. The program prepares graduates to analyse and design aircraft components and integrated aeronautical systems while considering performance, safety, reliability, economic feasibility, environmental impact, sustainability, and applicable engineering standards. Graduates are prepared for engineering practice in civil and military aviation, aerospace and defence industries, airlines, aircraft manufacturing and technical support, research institutions, government organizations, and related mechanical-engineering fields.
