20260412890The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering is the only undergraduate program offered by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at King Abdulaziz University. The department was established in 1975 as the Department of Civil Engineering and was renamed in 2019 in response to the growing need for engineering solutions to environmental challenges. The program spans construction engineering and management, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, and water resources and environmental engineering. The program prepares civil engineers with a strong foundation in mathematics, science, engineering mechanics, materials, design, analysis, and experimentation, reinforced by laboratories, field training, and a senior project. Graduates learn to design safe, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure and to make professional and ethical decisions that consider public health, safety, welfare, and environmental, economic, and societal impacts. The first cohort of female students was admitted in 2025. According to the bulletin, the program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
To be a leading civil engineering education program, nationally and internationally recognized for the excellence of its graduates, innovations, and contributions to sustainable and resilient infrastructure that enhances quality of life and advances the development priorities of Saudi Arabia.
To provide high-quality civil engineering education in an inclusive learning environment that integrates scientific and engineering fundamentals with design, experimentation, modern technologies, and professional practice; and to prepare competent, ethical graduates who pursue lifelong learning, collaborate and lead in diverse teams, and create safe, sustainable, and resilient solutions that serve society, the infrastructure sector, and national development.
