The Scholarships Department at King Abdulaziz University was established in 1391 AH, recognizing the significant role of scholarships in developing the university's academic and scientific staff. It is part of the University’s Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, with its director directly reporting to the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The Scholarships Department serves as a link between the university's faculties and the Saudi cultural attachés in various countries of study, fostering academic and cultural collaboration between the university and foreign universities. This contributes to enriching scientific and cultural diversity. The department also facilitates the necessary procedures to ensure communication between the students on scholarship and their faculties, addressing their needs and relaying information back to the students. It oversees administrative decisions for cases such as: scholarship issuance, extension of scholarships, changing universities or specializations, organizing scientific trips, attending conferences and training courses, and ending scholarships. Additionally, the department monitors the academic progress of students abroad in coordination with the cultural attachés to ensure the achievement of the intended academic and professional goals of the scholarships.
