Department of the Fashion and Textile

The Department of Fashion and Textile was established in 1401/1402 AH (1981/1982 CE) as part of the Faculty of Home Economics, making it the first specialized academic department in this field in the Kingdom. Since its transfer to the Faculty of Human Sciences and Design at King Abdulaziz University, the department has continued to develop specialized academic programs aimed at providing students with the knowledge and skills required in the fields of fashion design and textile production. The department aims to prepare graduates who are competent in fashion design and the development of the textile industry, with a focus on integrating artistic creativity with modern scientific techniques. The department offers academic programs that combine both theoretical and practical aspects, where students learn the fundamentals of fashion design, textile science, weaving techniques, and the impact of fashion on culture and society. The department also provides modern technologies in textile production, such as specialized software for fashion design, to help students enhance their skills in designing and producing clothing.
