The Department of Food and Nutrition was established in 1401/1402 AH as one of the Faculty of Human Sciences and Design departments. The department is focused on developing an exceptional curriculum for the undergraduate program, which includes two main programs: Nutrition Science and Food Science. The department provides an advanced educational environment with state-of-the-art laboratories that enable students to develop practical and research skills. These laboratories include food preparation, biochemistry, and food chemistry labs, equipped with various devices for measuring dietary protein, spectrophotometers, sensory and chemical properties of food, and anthropometric measurement devices. The department aims to prepare graduates who can offer professional nutritional consultations, analyze dietary systems, and design healthy nutrition programs for diverse communities. It also focuses on qualifying students to work in healthcare institutions, hospitals, healthcare centers, and the food industry. The department integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application through field training programs in specialized educational environments. Additionally, the department aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by promoting public health and raising nutritional awareness, strengthening its role in building a healthy and sustainable community.
