Department of Marine Physics

The Department of Marine Physics is one of the specialized departments focused on studying the physical phenomena occurring in the marine environment. It was established by the University's Supreme Council decision No. (2) on 6/7/1398 AH, corresponding to 12/6/1978. The department focuses on understanding the physical interactions between the oceans and the atmosphere, such as wave motion, ocean currents, tidal effects, and the distribution of temperature and salinity in seawater. It also studies the impact of physical factors on the marine ecosystem, including climate changes and their effects on the oceans. The department aims to develop methods and techniques for understanding and analyzing physical processes in the oceans, which helps in exploring marine resources, improving maritime transport, and protecting the marine environment. Additionally, the department strives to train students to use modern physical tools and models to study marine phenomena and predict their future changes.
