Department of Earth Sciences and Geophysics

The Department of Earth Sciences and Geophysics was established in 1398 AH (1978 AD) as one of the specialized departments of the Faculty of Earth Sciences at King Abdulaziz University. The department serves as a scientific platform focused on studying the Earth and its physical and geological properties to understand geological phenomena and explore natural resources such as minerals, groundwater, oil, and gas. The department integrates the principles and applications of geology, physics, mathematics, and data analysis to investigate the Earth's subsurface using advanced and non-destructive techniques. It covers a wide range of fields, including Earth sciences, seismology, geomagnetism, gravity, and acoustic and electrical methods.
