The Department of Dental Public Health at the Faculty of Dentistry, King Abdulaziz University, is dedicated to advancing oral health at the community and population levels through excellence in education, research, and service, with a focus on understanding and addressing the social, behavioral, and environmental determinants of oral health in order to reduce disparities and improve quality of life. The department delivers distinguished educational programs to undergraduate and postgraduate students covering the core principles of dental public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health promotion, disease prevention, program planning, health policy, and evidence-based practice, in addition to specialized training in research methodology, community-based interventions, and oral health program evaluation. It also plays a vital role in conducting research that informs policy and practice, developing preventive strategies, and collaborating with public health authorities to address pressing oral health challenges in Saudi Arabia and beyond, and through its outreach and community engagement initiatives it aims to prepare future dental professionals to lead efforts in promoting oral health equity and delivering patient-centered, culturally competent care.
