Dental Restoration Department

About
The Department of Restorative Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, King Abdulaziz University, focuses on teaching the fundamentals of conservative dentistry by introducing students to the basic instruments used in dentistry and the methods of preparing teeth to receive various types of restorations, in addition to the essentials of cariology, caries prevention, and dental biomaterials, while in advanced courses students learn the principles of smile analysis and treatment planning for cases requiring esthetic procedures. The department comprises two divisions, the Division of Operative and Esthetic Dentistry and the Division of Dental Biomaterials, contributes to teaching the joint Bachelor of Dental Medicine and Surgery program, and offers a Master of Science program in Operative and Esthetic Dentistry. It also serves the community by organizing awareness events on the factors leading to dental caries and the methods of prevention and conservative treatment, and by providing guidance on esthetic cases, including porcelain veneers and teeth whitening, while its faculty members conduct laboratory and clinical research aimed at developing the methods and materials used in conservative restorative treatment.
